Magn Biography
The beginning was quite trivial - performances in local clubs and the performance of other people's things. It is curious that the party of the leader-vocal on it was performed by Morgan, who left the composition soon afterwards. Subsequently, Bas-Gitar passed to Colin’s “Wally” Lowe, and, in addition, the team was replenished with the keyboardist Richard Bailey. The first full -range, released in the midst of punk -revolution in the year at Jet Records, was quite modest - “Kingdom of Madness”, seasoned with a semi -test in the spirit of “Kansas” and “Styx”, took position in the British charts.
The second album, produced by the bassist Ten Years After, Leo Lyons did not achieve this result, although the team’s performance was in demand when Magnum was touring with Judas Priest, Whiteesnake and Blue Oyster Cult. Seeing this state of affairs, the musicians temporarily abandoned studio work and released the Marauder concert. By that time, irreconcilable disagreements arose between Tony and Richard, and the latter was forced to leave.
The first serious success overtook the team of the year when the album of the Album of Chase The Dragon produced by Jeff “Kansas” was released. Reded from excessive raid of progressiveness, the record took a place in the British charts, and the group got the opportunity to accompany Ozzi Osbourne in his American round. The reason, perhaps, was the lack of an external producer on which the company decided to save.
In general, relations with Jet Records did not glue from the group, and soon the contract was terminated. The team immediately began to scatter and stagnation, and the future of "Magnum" was in question. The unrest subsided by the year, and during this time the brand new drummer Jim Simpson appeared in the composition. Soon Simpson was replaced by Mickey Barker, and the composition stabilized for a long time.
The Vigilante album, which was produced by Roger Taylor, where the guitars were suppressed to the sake of commerce, had very good sales, and Magnum went into the category of headliners. If in the year the group still performed at venues like Wembley, then later her career was declining. The team continued to produce both studio and concert albums, but throwing from label to the label and the alternative became in fashion.
In the year, "Magnum" held a farewell tour and announced a samoshrome. Ketley and Clarkin collected the new project "Hard Rain", and the vocalist also undertook to produce solo wheels. Having parked on “SPV” and issuing a couple of opuses with the fresh and rather weighty material “Breath of Life” and “Brand New Morning”, the team decided to properly note the summer of their most successful album.
At this stage, James was forced to leave, so the shock unit went to the jimmy of Kopli. The new drummer made his debut on the studio "Princess Alice and the Broken Arrow", for the first time after a long break of the returning team to British tables. Soon after, it was time to celebrate the summer anniversary of the chart album of the group, and Magnum recorded a living version of “Wings of Heaven”.
James returned to M in the same year and in the same year, Kek Gorin died of cancer, whose memory former colleagues honored a charitable concert.
And although he did not show his abilities on The Visim and Escape from the Shadow Garden, all the above four albums sounded equally eighties.
