Davydov Biography History
Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. Such an identification almost played a cruel joke with the poet: after two unsuccessful novels, he finally decided to marry the girl Sofya Chirkova, the daughter of the late General Nikolai Chirkov. Davydov received consent, but the wedding was at risk after the girl’s mother saw his poems. Having decided that the future son -in -law was a drunkard and cooked, she intended to refuse the poet.
His friends were worth a considerable effort to convince the woman that the poet and military historian Denis Davydov have only an external resemblance to his literary double, he drinks in moderation and was not seen behind the cards. There are legends about how Davydov managed to get into the thick of the fighting. According to one of them, the young hussar, bored in the Podolsk province, penetrated at night to Field Marshal Mikhail Kamensky, appointed at that time the commander in chief of the Russian army, demanding to let him go to the front.
Davydov himself describes this story a little differently. Soon the war with the French caught fire, and the famous Prince Bagration chose him as his adjutants. Davydov galloped into the army, rode into the vanguard, rushed into Sich, almost got captive, but was saved by the Cossacks. " Bagration became his favorite boss, older friend and mentor Denis Davydov. According to the first edition, Davydov, having come to General Beningsen, said: "Prince Bagration sent me to report that the enemy has on our nose." To which he replied: "Denis Vasilievich, if you are on yours, is it already close, if the nose of Prince Bagration, so we still have time to dine." According to the second option, Bagration himself, once offended by Davydov for the epigram that ridicuates his profile, quarreled on his nose.
It is obvious that both of these stories come from Davydov himself, who has known the wit and an amazing storyteller, and emphasize not only the external features of the heroes of the joke, but also the friendliness of their relationship. Together with Bagration, Davydov participated in a number of important battles, after one of which he received the Order of St. Vladimir of the IV degree.
In the year, it was to him that the poet will turn with the idea of creating a partisan detachment. As for the flying detachment of Davydov, during the war he became famous for unprecedented exploits, only some of them: with 50 hussars and 80 Cossacks in one of the sorts of Davydov managed to take the French, having repulsed the Russian prisoners, a cart with cartridges and nine carts with a food; Under Lyakhovo, along with other partisans, he captured the two thousandth detachment of General Ozero; When approaching Paris, he, along with the Cossacks, broke through the hussar of the brigade of General Zhakino to the French artillery battery and, destroying the servant, decided the outcome of the battle.
Denis Davydov became the prototype of the partisan detachment commander Davyd Vasiliev. After a year about Davydov and his incredible courage, he knew, without exaggeration, the whole world. The engraving of the English artist Denis Daiton with the signature “Denis Davydov. Black Captain ”was stored in Walter Scott's office, with whom the poet corresponded and to which he showed some of his poems.
The English novelist was unlikely to appreciate the talent of the hussar poet, but in Russia there were many admirers of his work. Davydov was a member of the Arzamas literary society, and, according to the rest of the residents of the circle, it was impossible to imitate his Ugarsky cheerful texts. The prosaic texts of Denis Davydov are less known, among which such articles as “Meeting with the Great Suvorov”, “Meeting with Field Marshal Count Kamensky”, “Memory of the battle at the Provisish-Elau”, “Tilsit in the year”, “Diaries of partisan actions” and “Notes about the Polish campaign of the year”.
According to the value of the data reported, these military memories still remain important sources for the history of the war of that era. After the end of the Patriotic War, the career of Davydov did not work out in the best way. For the government, he forever remained a freethinker, which means a person who cannot be used in serious campaigns. And although up to a year, Denis Davydov took part in hostilities, he considered himself a person deprived of the service.
The famous partisan and the poet on April 22, according to the Gregorian calendar, died - on May 22, on May 4 in the year of life.
