Mikhail Flenov Biography
The advantages of life in Canada programming were for me like magic my university friends were programmers. And when everyone in your company is very fond of something, you look at them and gradually get involved yourself. In general, I was somewhat lucky that my friends were not, for example, drug addicts :. All the conversations we had only about programming. The most fanatical of my friends was attached to the programmer-sysadmin in the accounting of Rostselmash.
I started spending all my free time there. For me, it was akin to magic: I watched how he writes on Pascal something in accounting, I tried to help-and eventually became a developer. Two years later, I myself began to work in the same place in the economic department, which was responsible for accounting for the funds going to the purchase of spare parts from the adjacent.
My responsibilities included the development of the so -called cooperations - that is, the full lists of parts that need to be purchased for all types of products. Even now, to calculate something similar, for example, in Excel is not an easy task. The factory worked 40 thousand people, we produced 15 marks of huge combines, in each of which only bolts with screws - dozens, if not hundreds of types.
When he realized that he was not pulling, he began to think about an alternative solution. And since by that time I was more or less familiar with programming, my first serious development was the accounting system for the economic department of the Rostselmash plant. At that time, it was just a huge database. I was noticed in the personnel department. At that time, they just began to introduce cards of personified accounting in the Pension Fund, the MHIF, and so on.
Personnel officers needed the accounting base of the entire factory staff. So I became a real programmer - after all, up to a year I was listed as an economist, and I was engaged in programming and automation of processes on my own initiative. Oddly enough, they immediately gave me the first category - in modern language, I, bypassing the grades of June and Midla, became a seignor.
And this is without a specialized education and without formal work experience! Since then, I have always worked only as a programmer. Programmers were paid little, but I did not work hard for the sake of money, I did not have to count on big income, while the salaries on Rostselmash were then delayed for six months. In addition to everything, due to the fact that the plant did not work for most of the time in full capacity, the salacies were now and then transferred to an incomplete working week.
That is, with the official salary of a programmer of the first category, at about 10 rubles at that time, it sounded quite good in the end I often came out for six thousand, or even five. I received less than simple factory collectors. Nobody knew what programming is, why it is and how to evaluate it. And there was no demand for IT specialists. Roughly speaking, I worked for food; Now it is called "Free internship for obtaining professional experience." But I, the young student, liked everything: after all, the plant, in connection with the importance and obligation of the task assigned to me, did not spare the resources for its implementation.
I was bought by the latest Pentium computers, the servers of which, by the way, I first saw it there, other expensive toys. I myself designed and paved the nets, I completely answered for them - in general, there was enough interesting thing in work. As I became the author of the Hacker near the factory passing, the Rospechat Kiosk was, where I saw the very first issue of the Hacker magazine.
Fascinated by the steep name, I immediately bought it - and there are continuous games and only three articles on khaking. Source: Personal Archive of Mikhail Flenov. But in the editorial column, the then chief editor Sergei Sintez, Pokrovsky invited all readers to cooperate: “Winging to become authors, write in a personal.” I came home, immediately wrote an email and sent it through a simple modem.
The next day they answered me, asked to tell about themselves. I wrote who I work and what I was doing, after which I was added to the pool of the authors. True, the first article appeared only six months later, because the journalist of me was none and they did not print me. And then in the game column it was necessary a person who will hack games: the editorial office decided that this is how the materials would turn out more hacker.
I don’t remember what game I first wrote about. Something about how to hack units: which files to climb and what to change so that the price for them becomes a minus-you are building something, and your gold does not decrease, but, on the contrary, is added. He sent it to the editor - and soon received the answer: “Well done, that he found vulnerability, but was written disgusting.
Let me call you? We agreed that he would send games, indicate interesting audiences, and I will look for shortcomings and vulnerabilities: what can be corrected, what to change, how to get bonuses, how to pump the game and even hack it. A video about how I worked in the Hacker magazine so we worked for several months. Then this editor went to Gamery, and I asked with him. But there my articles did not go: they were considered too vulgar. This for the “hacker” could be written in the spirit: “To change the price of Unit, you will have to restart the level, and the horses will not be raped at the crossing.” In "Gambling" they immediately indicated to me: "Misha, it is not so accepted for us." To which I objected: “But in a different way I am not interested in.
I am writing for the Fan. " I was not cunning: the salary of the authors in the “hacker”, that in “gambling” was purely symbolic, although many still think that I earned it. In general, with writing, I had to part for a while. But I am grateful to the then editors for the boost and the entrance to journalism. How I wrote a book for programmers and that the thirst for authorship did not subside, although at first I did not want to write books.
Therefore, I made a site-something like social networks, only for programmers where I shared my knowledge of programming. At a certain moment, he decided to unite all this into one consistent story and quickly collected a PDF file. So on the disk of the Hacker magazine, my first book Delphi Bible was published. Of course, she was far from the ideal. But readers liked my way to explain.
Since then I have been writing books because I like to share knowledge. Now reprints are mostly coming out. I have not been writing new books for ten years. Most of my publications were based on articles for the Hacker magazine. Only the Bible C and the game books were written from scratch. Fleunov’s Bible can be bought here a screenshot: Skillbox media I do not have a clear method of working on a book.
First, I make a small plan, without a specific vision and begin to write, and then inspiration comes. My first site is slowly bent. I made a mistake: at random, ten of those whom I often saw in the comments gave them access and allowed them to write what he wanted. It turned out that democracy does not work like that: fights, quarrels began. And I was at that time too liberal views.
Therefore, I decided to just get back: I gave control to another guy who had the courage to disperse especially violent. For some time everything developed. But in the end, the site was in the archive. I do not regret it, this is just a stage of life that ended, like any work - worked, then left. Now I only have my own blog - but I only manage them myself. There were times when a person visited him a day and I received 10-20 letters.
Now letters come less often. Partly, probably, it was a feedback from the Hacker with his huge audience. Now it is not so big, I do not promote - I do not need it.
It's just a hobby: he wrote, splashed out thoughts, and that’s all. Who likes it - read, who does not like it - do not read. I do not plan to earn on a blog. The promotion will be needed only if I want to sell something-for example, courses. But I do not plan this yet. I can’t say that the blog gives me some special weight in the profession. Even in Russia, from what I wrote articles and books, there was no profit, except for jokes and topics for conversations.
I am normal about this. I worked there from for a year. They also paid little there: then programmers were no longer valued, but by electricians who build production lines, and only 1C specialists were required from the ITSHNI. But I had interesting projects: I automated these lines and set up control and measuring devices. For example, if the shell thickness deviated from the norm, the party was immediately automatically rejected.
The dismissal was a mistake: made a bet on the Moscow company MV. They engaged in office equipment, opened a branch in Rostov to save on development, offered programmers a rather large, by Rostov standards, salaries - dollars. True, I had more in Atlantis Pak, but I was used to the promise of career growth. As a result, I worked there for only two weeks: I did not like excess control.
For example, working time accounting was so careful that it was necessary to leave a note, even when you go to the toilet or for lunch. When I realized that a special employee who monitors our work was sitting in our programmers' office, he left.
