The composer, pianist and performer George Gershvin GG. George's parents were Jewish emigrants who left Russia shortly before his birth. They had nothing to do with music, the father was a shoemaker, and his mother was a daughter of a Skornyak. In the family, he was the second. He had an older brother Aira, with whom they later worked together on many works. At school, George did not differ in special successes, which really sadden his parents who wanted to see him as a school teacher.
But he was drawn to music from an early age. At 8, he first heard Max Rosenzweig, a famous violinist, who played at a concert at school. The musician also liked this boy enthusiastic, and they became friends. George often visited Rosenzweig at home and even began to select popular melodies on his piano on his own. It was not easy to find his teacher George. A good musical mentor managed to meet only a few years later.
It turned out to be Charles Hambitser, who advised him to also take orchestration lessons and harmony. By the will of chance, the player of the summer musician was heard by the manager of the publishing house "Remik and K". The creative take -off of the musician fell on the years of the XX century, that time in America was called the "jazz era." This musical style had a huge impact on Gershvin, who tried to express with the help of music the spirit of modernity and the life of ordinary Americans.
The composer has repeatedly stated that jazz is the music of the people in which he hears a national life impulse and a boiling river of the US life. At the beginning of the year, thanks to the two months of the hard work of Gershvin, Rapsodia in blues tones appeared. He wrote the music of Rhapsody for 2 piano, and the arranger Fred Grof-an arrangement for the jazz compartment.
The audience gathered different, attended Rachmaninov, Stravinsky, Ozovsky. At the end of the Rapsodia, deafening ovations were heard.
The symbiosis of jazz and classics, still unprecedented, did not leave anyone indifferent. The composer recalled the creation of Rapsodia: “Suddenly, an idea came to my mind. So much chatted about the limited jazz, so incorrectly understood its function. It is generally accepted that jazz should sound at the same pace and based only on dance rhythms. I decided, as far as possible, to break this erroneous concept with one blow.
Inspired by this purpose, I began to write at unusual speed. " George Gershvin and his brother Aira. George had many more creative plans, and he invited his brother Air to work in co -authorship with him. Aira took himself the creative pseudonym Arthur Francis, because he was sure that in the world of music the surname Gershvin should be the only and unique. The brothers created more than 20 musicals, which showed in Broadway and in the cinema.
And the musical performance "I sing about you" for the year received the Pulitzer Prize. This award was awarded the musical production for the first time. The figurine was awarded posthumously, the composer did not become a couple of months after the premiere of the film. The main place in the career of the musician was occupied by the musicals, which he loved very much, and in which he put his whole soul.
In all the composer’s musical masterpieces there is a kind of form, the reality of stage situations and confrontations, the energy of the development of the script, the duet of tragic and comedic paintings. The work that has become the hallmark of George Gershvin - “Rapsodia in Blues Tones” will sound on December 15 at the concert “Piazzolla - Gershvin - Gala! Richter of the Kaluga Regional Philharmonic.
