His works are small in domestic state collections and are almost absent in private, they are rarely found at exhibitions. In Russia, his only personal exhibition took place 45 years ago in the Tretyakov Gallery and the Russian Museum, the reason for which was the transfer of the widow of the artist Anna Sorina to the Soviet museums, selected by Savely Abramovich.

This project lies in the trend of the system activities of the Gallery "Our Artists" upon the return of the half -forgotten names of artists of the Russian abroad and is designed to attract deserved attention to this significant figure of our, and not just international culture. The biography of Savely Sorin is a conglomerate of talent, perseverance, endless work on himself and, as a result, a dizzying take -off of an artistic career.

From Polotsk, who was then in the line of settled, from the poor family, Savely Sorin was able to enter the Odessa drawing school, and later brilliantly end the Academy of Arts in the workshop of Ilya Repin. In E, he exhibited work at the Arts of Arts, often visited the artistic cabaret “Wandering Dog” and “The Hall of Comedians”, whose visitors often became his models - Anna Akhmatova, Nikolai Jewish, Tamara Karsavina, Mikhail Kuzmin, Arthur Lurie and others.

After a short stay in Tiflis, he moved to Paris, often traveled to the United States and finally settled there at the beginning of World War II. In exile, Sorin gradually gained wide fame and achieved material well -being, which was so unusual for Russian artists in exile. The highest circles of American business turned to him, wanting to perpetuate themselves and members of their families - Kana, Dupones, Astora, Woolwort, Mellons were among his customers.

Also, Russian aristocrats Obolensky, Trubetskoy, and the Russian intelligentsia in exile made up the circle of his models. His hand is captured by the world movie star Lillian Gish and Vivien Lee. In – Sorin held a number of personal exhibitions in the USA. His works were included in the meetings of the large Western museums-the Metro Museum and Frick of the collective, New York, the Museum of Fine Arts of San Francisco, the National Gallery of Art, Washington, the Luxembourg Museum, Paris and others.

They still adorn the residence of members of the British royal family Clarence-House, London. Critics noted that as “Repin's student, who has passed the French and Italian school, he reached the level of old German masters” Pavel Barkhan. Saveliy Sorin created his own style, which was distinguished by clarity, exquisite the beauty and severity of the line, the virtuosity of technology.

Sergei Makovsky called his portraits “spiritualized” and “speakers”. Sorin is accurately recognizable as an artist of Russian culture. At the same time, Benois emphasized: "Sorin, being Russians by birth and culture, still turned out to be an artist of the world list." The gallery gathered at the exhibition of 30 works of the artist. Its basis was portraits of nine domestic museums and three private collections.

Could significantly decorate the exposition of work from the Donetsk and Lugansk museums, but for obvious reasons they are not available. The exhibition covers the creative period. The exposition will be complemented by the artist’s personal album, as well as the Berlin folio of the year “Sorin. Portraits ”with the preface of Andre Salmon. The project is accompanied by a catalog with two scientific articles - John Boult and Ksenia Kableova.
